MY FIRST DAY AS A TEACHER (part 3 )
I had to attend to some arising issues that needed my attention.As you might not be aware, the schools have closed for the December holidays. At home , arising matters have to be dealt with now that I'm available.
The learners who were perched on the window were enjoying the attention I had given them.
Kids love attention. I went into the class armed with the class register ,a blue pen and of course a red one. I made sure I had a piece of chalk. These are the tools of trade excluding
other professional documents.
First impressions are always key. You appear too friendly and the kids overwhelm you.
You portray an image of an army officer,the children fear you. I greeted them and what came as the reply was a long chorus complete with the school's motto and vision.
"Welcome,our teacher ! " . They managed to finish their long salutation. When they settled down , I started introducing myself. Not all learners were attentive though. That did come as a suprise. I had to be creative so that I capture each kids attention. In our teaching fraternity we call it class control.
